Asset Five - Pencil Sharpener
One of Six Assets to be completed for Task One in Modelling to Camera.

The Pencil Sharpener Asset became more tricky as I progressed. Throughout these processes, I have adjusted the Polygons to the Image Planes’ shape; with this asset, I had to do the reverse and create two image planes with their translations and scales in the local space of the blocking object.
A new method I found was creating a polygon on an object using Live Magnet and Interactive Creation; this was necessary for the flattened part of the sharpener where the blade would fit. This was very similar to a technique in ProCreate which I use for Digital 2D Art known as “Alpha Lock,” which allowed a layer to alter the colour on its inked parts rather than the empty page along with it. It isn’t exactly the same, but it felt quite intuitive to me because of it.
Assets like these are very important to the Animation Industry and Games Industry, to create props and set pieces to build the details around them. This is the asset I am most proud of the work I’ve done. From the initial development, to the number of (relative to my skill level) polygons to form this seemingly complex object.
