Asset Three - Pencil

One of Six Assets to be completed for Task One in Modelling to Camera.

The Pencil was fairly simple in comparison to the Paint Brush Pot. Using a Polygon Primitive and modelling an object based on that as the starting point was a lot more intuitive to me than using a different method (i.e. EP Curve Tool.)

Modelling the cylinder to form the object, then using the Bevel Tool to round and smoothen the end of the Pencil. Another new tool which helped me was the Multi-Cut Tool: instead of adding a new Polygon (like a Cone) and connecting the two objects into one, I could cut the tip part of the Pencil Polygon and alter the vertices to form the tip part of the 3D object.

I did encounter an issue with the Pencil. As shown in the video above/below, a number of the edges I did not select as a part of it. Further trouble shooting showed my Soft-Select was on, which caused the error.

Overall, I am pleased with how this asset turned out. At this point, I feel comfortable with using Maya and understanding how to resolve slight technical errors.
