Film Shot Two -
"The Iron Giant" (1999)
One of three Film Poses for Task Two for Modelling to Camera.

The Iron Giant is an interesting piece of media with a blend of 2D and 3D Animation. The current shot is of Hogarth (left) introducing the Iron Giant (right) to comic books and Superman as they are hiding in a barn.

The poses were rather simple to recreate, though I faced a minor struggle with accurately scaling the Dex Rig to match the Iron Giant. I created the comic books using a scaled Cube Polygon; however the book Hogarth holds in his hand has several pages, so I duplicated the Polygon in his hand and translated the pivot to the centre of his hand. Then rotating the duplicated polygons for the illusion of several pages.
The wall and flashlight were simple assets, but the hay was quite a difficult item to recreate: a large number of tiny items collecting into one, so I did a cone and translated and rotated its vertices to replicate the haystack. I searched for alternative methods to do this, but I could not find a time-effective solution.
I did attempt some colour since several assets would not be seen otherwise (the comics, the flashlight and the hay.) To conclude, I am very pleased with how this turned out, but if I were to redo anything, it would be the hay.
